On June 27, Chairman Choi Jai-chul of the Climate Change Center met with Jesper Knudsen, Energy Counsellor at the Embassy of Denmark, and Energy Officer Park Min-sun to discuss ongoing and future cooperation between Korea and Denmark in the fields of offshore wind and industrial energy efficiency.
Chairman Choi emphasized the importance of building public trust and community acceptance to advance offshore wind development in Korea. He also highlighted that improving energy efficiency in the industrial sector requires a combination of behavioral change and policy-driven incentives to generate tangible results.
The Danish representatives outlined key areas of collaboration under the Green Growth Alliance—a bilateral platform for green transition—pointing to Denmark’s leadership in offshore wind policy as an influential model for Korea’s recent Offshore Wind Power Promotion Act. They also discussed progress in private-sector-led wind projects, cooperation with Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), and potential engagement in domestic energy governance through the Energy Transition Forum.
Chairman Choi noted the strategic alignment between the two industrial economies and reiterated the Climate Change Center’s role as a facilitator of international partnerships, policy research, and stakeholder collaboration. Both sides agreed to pursue concrete joint efforts, including co-hosted seminars, collaborative policy reports, and practical mechanisms to support national climate and energy goals.
