On January 15, Jai-chul Choi, Chairman of the Climate Change Center, attended the Pohang MICE Ambassador Appointment Ceremony held at the External Relations Office of Pohang City Hall. Through this appointment, Chairman Choi will serve as an official MICE Ambassador for Pohang City for a two-year term, from January 2026 to January 2028.
The ceremony marked the first initiative by Pohang City to establish a framework for strengthening its capacity to attract international conferences and to lay the foundation for its development as a sustainable international meeting destination. The program included the presentation of appointment plaques, a commemorative photo session, and a luncheon, followed by an exchange of views on future activities and directions.
Drawing on his experience in diplomacy, climate action, and international cooperation, Chairman Choi is expected to take part in activities linked to major international and domestic forums, including participation in the World Green Growth Forum (WGGF) and relevant parliamentary forums. He will also contribute to promoting Pohang City’s profile and conditions as a host city for large-scale international events through engagement with domestic and international networks.
The Climate Change Center plans to build on this appointment by continuing to explore opportunities to connect international conferences with climate and environmental agendas, while supporting the expansion of region-based international platforms into broader policy and industry engagement.
